We've been all over the UK introducing Off With Her Head to new customers lastyear as well as our regular spots at Whitby! Here's a little review of the last few stalls of 2011!

The later part of 2011 saw me journey over 2 days to get to the fantastic Bridport Hat Festival. The journey started at 10pm on a Thursday night with an overnight coach to London. The next day saw two further coach trips, one from London to Bournemouth and then finally on to Bridport a small town in Dorset that hosts the annual Hat Festival. Now in its second year, the festival sees the town come alive sharing a love of hats all thanks to resident Mad-hatter Mr Snook who runs his hat business from the town. I wasn't alone in my journey with other milliners coming from Ireland and visitors from as far as Australia. I sat up my little stall on the Saturday in the Art Centre to a great reception. It is always so nice to get feedback from people and those I met seemed to really love what I'd produced. I showed of the newly finished Tattooed Heart range for the first time too, and was really happy with the comments I got!

On the Sunday before the mammoth trip home began I got the chance to have a look at some of the other designers showing their pieces. I met an amazing group of young women all having just finished at college including the very talented Holly Gaimen (yes, they have talent in spades in that family) who's caligraphy inspired piece I'd much admired in the Stephen Jones/Talenthouse competition we'd both entered earlier in they year. In fact it was Holly who one the public voting portion of the competition!

A little closer to home, in Glasgow, I met up with the University Steampunk Society for Glasgow by Gaslight II. The cabaret section of the day saw jugglers, magicians, belly-dancing and a guy playing classic game themes on a laser harp. I thoroughly enjoyed having a stall at this event and it gave me the change to dress up in my best Victoriana too!

Then came our bi-annual trip to the Yorkshire Coast and the little town of Whitby for Halloween. We had our usual stall at Alt Fest, but after a little accident and a trip to the towns hospital to determine if I'd broken my wrist we decided to call it a day on the Sunday and headed home instead, getting back just before midnight.

We'll be staying a lot closer to home for 2012, as we plan to spend a lot of time building up the on-line business as well as sourcing some retail outlets for our designs too!

Ooops... seems I've been a little absent from this blog for a few months too. One of my New Years Resolutions is to make sure I'm posting a lot more regularly on this and my personal blog!

So its time to ring in the new and I'd like to wish all my customers and friends a very Happy 2012! I hope she brings you a year of happiness and beauty!

There has been so much going on with Off With Her Head in the last few months, so much to tell you all, and so many hopes for the next 12 months too... so I'll start with a little look at a couple of the custom pieces I had the pleasure to create last year!

I love the challenge that comes from creating custom pieces, from being asked to work outside my comfort zone. Well last year I had two very challenging pieces to work on. The first for Laura, who came to me with the idea to recreate the look of Sharpe (played by Sean Bean in the TV adaptation of the novels by Bernard Cornwell) for an event she was attending. The costume was being made by Marie from Forever in Black Designs, but Laura a previous customer of mine, knew to come to me for the hat. She wanted a miniature Shako Hat in the style worn by Sean, so after much research I set to work to create this piece! It was not a style I'd tackled before and I was very pleased with the result!!

The second piece was for the Pin-up for Heroes Calendar 2012. I was heavily involved in last years calendar and this year the organisers came to me looking for a very special piece. I was told that one of the shoots was to recreate this piece of artwork by Gil Elvgren and that they needed the hat!

What a challenge that proved to be. With a deadline of little over 2 weeks to complete and ship the piece I set to work. The first version proved disastrous as I have miscalculated one of my measurements, but after some careful planning and mathematics I was able to finish the project on time... and look at the resulting image from Egner Photography... stunning! The Dragstalgia Fascinator

A few months ago a received a lovely email from burlesque and pin-up model Miss Phoenix, offering her modelling services for Off With Her Head. We got to talking and when she told me that she was going to be the official flag girl for this years Dragstalgia (http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_dragstalgia.php) I offered to make her a fascinator for the event, and what we came up with is the Dragstalgia Fascinator.

I was inspired by the idea of the chequered flag and by hot rod flames and combined them to come up with this piece. The base was constructed from heavy cotton in a chequered print with cotton interfacing ironed to the reverse side, lined with wool felt and edged in with bias (I ended up using black bias instead of the red). The flames were constructed from 3 layers of sinamay in flame colours and decorated with Swarovski crystal accents.

I was really pleased with the finished result and shipped the piece of to Miss Phoenix who, despite the windy, wet weather during the weekend, managed to wear the fascinator and get a few great shots during the day!

This summer I've been busy working on a new range of fascinators inspired by the old school style tattoos, you know the ones... cherry red hearts with scrolls that have words like 'LOVE', 'ALWAYS' and 'MUM' written in script across them an popular tattoo imagery such as anchors, swallows and cherries! Well I've some up with a range of 6 designs, that I hope you'll love as much as I do and I thought I'd share the design process as well as the finished pieces.

Sometimes, not always, I start with a blank piece of paper and a box of coloured pencils and fine liner pens! Then from that concept drawing I produce a prototype from cotton and wool felt.

There are 6 different designs for this range (at present, but I have a few ideas for some others!) - AHOY, LUCKY, LOVE, CHERRY, SWEET and ALOHA. Cotton print fabrics for each design are selected and each heart is cut from a template. Cotton interfacing is then ironed to the reverse of the fabric. Matching or sometimes contrasting wool felt hearts are also cut from the template and matched up with the cotton pieces which are then bound together and edged with bias.

Decorative elements for each piece are then selected. Pieces such as the banners, text, swallows and cherries are hand cut from wool felt and appliquéd to create a 3D effect.

I'm really please with the finished pieces! I think my favourite one has to be LOVE!

I took these with me to London for The Roost photo shoot with photographer, Ange Harper, and they received lots of positive feedback from both the models and photographers there. The lovely Lilah, who if you've seen my website over the years you will be well acquainted with, modelled a couple of designs for me, my favourite on her is LUCKY! Interview with Natasha Scharf

As a long time Goth and a regular attender of Gothic events I was really interested to hear that a new book that explores the world of Gothic from its origins in the music scene to its present day metamorphosis is due to be released at the end of this month! Written by Natasha Scarf, former editor of Meltdown Magazine, this book promises to take a good look at the impact Goth has had across the world.

I had the chance to speak with Natasha and ask her about her past, the book and her plans for the future.

Lisa - You were the Editor of the fantastic Meltdown Magazine, Tell us a little about your writing career?

Natasha - Well, I've been writing ever since I learned how to - I started my first fanzine when I was 7 although that had a very limited print-run and wasn't quite up to the standards of my later efforts! By 16, I was writing for our local newspaper and by 19, I was editorial assistant on an international classical music magazine during my university breaks! The seeds for meltdown were planted shortly after I graduated from a journalism degree and I juggled that while working for various media institutions. These days, I'm a full-time freelance music journalist and count Metal Hammer among the magazines that I write for - a publication that I used to dream of writing for!

Lisa - And so now you've written Worldwide Gothic. What can we expect from this book?

Natasha - Worldwide Gothic was no mean feat - it chronicles the goth scene from its birth in London in 1976 with the very first Siouxsie and the Banshees gig right up to the present day, looking at how it developed around the world and how it's changed over the years. I've been listening to goth music since I was a child and have been writing about it for many years but I have to admit that even I was surprised by some of the things I learned while researching this book! The toughest part was having to condense it all down over a very short space of time - it really is a culmination of my life's work. I've packed Worldwide Gothic with new interviews and loads of full-colour photos, many of which have never been seen before - I'm really excited about the project and I can't wait to share my findings with everyone.

Lisa - Your cover image features the stunning Lady Amaranth. Did you have much difficulty in selecting the face of Gothic culture??

Natasha - To me, Lady Amaranth's image epitomises the most glamorous side of contemporary gothic and she always looks stunning. There are so many different interpretations of the gothic look and one thing I learned while researching this book is that those interpretations vary wildly not only from country to country but also from era to era so it was important to use a model who would be universally recognised as 'gothic'. Lady Amaranth's look ticks all the right boxes and I don't think anyone could argue that she doesn't look gothic!

But there are other ingredients to take into consideration too. I chose the photographer Taya Uddin to take the photo as her stunning imagery has just the right balance of darkness and light without being over-the-top or cheesy. The beautiful corset worn on the cover was made by the talented alternative designer Larysa K, whose corsetry has to be seen to be believed and the jewellery is by the famous Alchemy Gothic, who have been creating some of the most incredible designs since the very birth of goth (I recently had the privilage of visiting their factory in Leicester and was amazed to watch the pieces being crafted by hand). I should also point out that everyone involved in creating the image has roots in different parts of the world so the cover alone summarises worldwide gothic to me!

That said, there was only room for one model on the cover so I wanted to include a selection of some other well-known gothic models inside the book as well. These include AndromedaX, Fracture and Dark Morte and there are lots of photographs of goths from around the world as well as bands and musicians - this is a very colourful book that should surprise anyone who thought goths only wore black!

Lisa - In your time as editor of Meltdown Magazine you introduced us to a number of fantastic up and coming

bands/artists. Do you have a particular favourite amongst them?

Natasha - Oh, goodness! I never stopped writing about up-and-coming artistes even after what I refer to as 'the meltdown years' so it would be impossible to choose just one favourite. Music is constantly evolving and fashions are constantly changing - I must have written about hundreds of acts over the years (at least)! I can't deny that when a band or singer I've written about starts being referenced in blogs and other publications, I do feel a warm glow :)

Lisa - You've been as magazine editor, DJ, presenter and now author. What can we expect from you next?

Natasha - I've also done some acting, production and voice-over work! My boyfriend keeps saying that I ought to become a children's author next although I'm not quite sure if I'm ready for that just yet! Worldwide Gothic is actually the fifth book I've written so I'm rather keen to tweak my earlier efforts and see whether I can get any of those published. In the meantime, I shall be continuing with my music journalism and I have a few other magazines in the pipeline that I'm looking at contributing to.

Other than that, I'm a firm believer in taking whatever Fate throws in my path so I don't like to place too much

expectation in anything!

Recently at Off With Her Head HQ we're been looking to movies for our inspiration. One of my favourites is Marie Antoinette staring Kirsten Dunst.

I simply adore the way that the use of colours that were not possible to create at the time (such as the neon pink) feature heavily, and loved the little sneak peak of a pair of Converse in the scene where she was trying on shoes!

A while back I supplied some Courtesan inspired fascinators to a shoot being done by Gothindulgence/Ange Harper, and the results we're stunning!

Pin-Up For Heroes Charity Calendar Launch Party

6am Thursday morning and the alarm goes off. I'm up dressed and ready to leave the house by 7am heading to Edinburgh Airport, bound for London to attend the Pin-Up For Heroes Charity Calendar Launch Party at Cafe Du Paris that evening. Taking my little sister Helen for company we head to the big city ready for adventure. Our early morning flight gave us plenty time during the day to be tourists visiting Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and the South Bank!

The evenings event was fantastic, and we had such a great time. The location was stunning! The guests at our table were so nice and welcoming and the food was amazing (the chocolate mousse especially!). Our entertainment for the night kicked off with 'The Girls From The Garter Lounge' (http://www.garterlounge.co.uk/) including one of our dear friends Darkteaser, with an amazing Burlesque routine! Then we said hello to the Calendar Girls all wearing their outfits, hats and fascinators from the shoots. This was followed by a wonderful dance class and Lindy Hop demonstration from the London Swing Dance Society (http://www.swingdanceuk.com/) and music from the RAF Squadronaires (http://www.raf.mod.uk/rafmusic/aboutus/rafsquadronaires.cfm).

The BIG surprise of the night was a visit from Tina O'Brien and Jared Murillo from the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing!

And to top it all off we also met Graham Cole the actor who played Tony Stamp in The Bill (it was essential viewing in our house growing up, so both me and my little sister, Helen were really pleased to have met him!!)

I've been very proud to be involved with the Pin-Up for Heroes Charity Calendar this year by providing hats and fascinators for the calendar photo shoots and for the fashion show at the launch party. But I've also been working on a special raffle prize for the charity raffle being held at the launch party. A pretty little fascinator inspired by the Help for Heroes colours scheme.

It was a rainy Sunday in Fife and we headed over to The Greenside Hotel in Leslie to set up our little stall at Gin In Teacups, the third vintage fayre organised by Laurie and Sarah from Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea!

Creative Wedding & Party Fair - St Andrews

On Sunday the 26th September we headed over to St Andrews to attend the first Creative Wedding & Party Fair organised by Fiona from The Green Cockatoo. We set up our little stall (next to Bibi's Bakery - why is it I'm always next to the cakes!!) and prepared to welcome our Brides, Grooms , Bridesmaids and Family and introduce them to the world of Vintage Inspired Millinery. It was a lovely afternoon and I met some lovely people, including the adorable six month old Poppy and her Mum! As always my little girl, Kaylee was the star attraction, but I did manage to get some interest in the hats and fascinators on display!!!

As a result of the show I'm pleased to announce that our Vintage Wedding Range is being stocked by Enchanted of St Andrews (34 South Street) and that we a re in talks with designer Loraine Walker from Hide and Sleek Designs to get involved in a fashion show at the Rothes Halls, Glenrothes next year.

I was asked a few weeks back by my little sister if I could make a fascinator for her fiancées Gran who is off to a wedding in the Highlands this coming weekend. I was told that it should be similar to the ones that I had made for my sisters to wear to my brothers wedding a few years back, a little smaller in size and in 'winter white' to match her outfit.

The finished piece has three small satin and organza roses with Swarovski crystal centres on a diamond base of winter white wool felt and a plume of goose biot and pick feathers that sweep backwards. This style of fascinator is really popular for weddings, very stylish without being over powering. Off With Her Head Logo Competition

Calling all creative types and artisits! Off With Her Head is looking for a logo, something that sums up just what we do! So with that in mind we've created a competition to find our new logo!

Here's what we need.... it must contain the business name - 'Off With Her Head' and must in some way feature a hat! Primarily it will be used for the banner on our website so entries should be created in the following size - 984 pixels x 128 pixels and in png format. Tea on the Lawn

Off With Her Head had a fantastic time at Tea on the Lawn yesterday! We set up our little stall in a little white tent in the morning under gorgeous sunny skies, while dodging a few curious wasps, and waited to greet the crowds.

The event was arranged by Jennifer and Lisa who were hoping to raise funds to help build a cafe area for the newly refurbished Adamson Hospital in Cupar, Fife and we hope that they made plenty of money for a worthy cause! Unfortunately we were unlucky in the raffle but we hope to be making a lovely custom fascinator for the winner of our gift voucher - Disco Dave!!

The weather held for the most part with only a few short showers driving more customers into the craft tents! Sharing a tent with us were some very talented artists and crafters and we couldn't resist buying a few things for ourselves!

We simply could not resist this little fellow from Ruby Loves Red. With his adorable face and super soft fur 'Snowy' now had pride of place in Kaylee's cot!

Tea on the Lawn

This Saturday (28th August) we will be at Tea on the Lawn, a traditional end of summer community fete, raising funds to build a tea room for the newly refurbished Adamson Hospital in Cupar, Fife. Being held at Springfield House, by Cupar from 11am - 3pm, it will showcase local craftspeople and artists offering a wide range of gifts, accessories and homewares.

Introducing Our New Arrival!

We are really proud to introduce our new arrival - Kaylee Aine Poole Jones, born 12th July 2010 at 10.29am by C-Section. Weighed 6lbs 5ounces.

She was a little breech baby so we opted for elective C-Section. Mum is recovering well and baby is doing very well. She is a little sweetheart, so very tiny and beautiful. We are a little sleep deprived, but loving every moment of being new parents!

At this time we'd like to thank everyone for the messages of congratulations, cards and gifts we've received! We appreciate the patience our customers have show at this time as we adjust to life with a newborn! Rest assured we will endeavour to meet all orders quickly and shall be back with stall at a venue near you in the near future offering some fantastic new designs as well as FREE cuddles with Kaylee!!

Please Note that from the 12^th of July we will not be able to answer emails and dispatch orders at our usual speed as I’m heading off into hospital to give birth to my first baby. I am hoping to be home by the 17^th July but as I will be undergoing c-section I will be off my feet for a couple of weeks. Madame Zingara are Back!!

Two winters past, Madame Zingara packed up their tent and settled in their new home at Battersea Power Station in London. Sadly the UK wasn't kind to them - and with the recession starting to bite amongst many other things, they were liquidated, losing everything ... Well Madame Zingara have managed to pick up the pieces and the tent is back home in South Africa.

So if you are in South Africa - do go and enjoy this show... a magical night is guaranteed!

I've been very lucky to work with Madame Zingara creating fascinators and hats for a couple of their performers as well as a selection of head pieces and accessories that sold out in a matter of days at the Tent on its visit to London! Its good to see them back!

Gin In Teacups Vintage Fayre

Yesterday (28th March) Off With Her Head packed their bags and trundled off to The Greenside Hotel in Leslie, Fife for the first Gin In Teacups Vintage Fayre. The event was a huge success organised by the lovely Laurie and Sarah from Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea, making it into the local press and onto the local radio station.

Lots of vintage clothing sellers including the girls from Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea, EdWard Vintage and Betty Swallocks (who both looked stunning in their vintage dresses)! Beautiful jewellry, vintage spectacles and homewares and myself selling vintage inspired millinery! Had a blast networking and making lots of sales, a really good event for Off With Her Head. There was also a fashion show featuring Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea, EdWard Vintage and my hats (pictures of the fashion show will follow). I was so proud to see my designs rocked by the models on the runway!

UK Handmade - Spring 2010

Just had a read of the new issue of UK Handmade this morning. Anna Stansen of Sakura Jewellry has taken over as Editor and has done us proud with her first issue.

This issue features some fantastic makes including delicious looking marzipan truffles (the picture had me drooling over my porridge at breakfast), Easter mini cakes, Spring inspired cookies, butterfly napkin rings and a beautiful spring basket to contain all your handmade gifts! Its certainly got my Easter gift giving needs sorted!

There were two articles that really stood out for me this issue... promoting your business online and handmade baby. I'm really pushing the online promotion for Off With Her Head this year and the article has helped to give me lots of new ideas and places to explore for getting the business noticed. And as for 'Handmade Baby'... well I'm now 24 weeks pregnant and there is so much wonderful handmade stuff out there for the little one that I'm spoiled for choice... I'm going to have a list of handmade gifts for the baby shower!

Custom Pillbox in Black

Having had the shop up and running via Etsy for about a month, I got a custom order for one of my 'Mary-Anne' style pillbox hats with a few changes. The customer wanted black polka-dot veiling and a peacock feather accent to finish of the piece. I really love making the pillbox hats, so it was a joy to create this piece, which is now on its way to a new home in the US!

Off With Her Head packed its bags and trundled off to Glasgow fo another fantastic Made in the Shade event. It was a fantastic day and the atmosphere amoung the traders in The Lighthouse was frenzied as ever as they set up on the morning of the 26th September. Everyone looked fabulous rocking their own individual vintage style and then to doors opened... the crowns flooded in, over 1000 pairs of feet walked (or sensibly to the elevator) up to the fifth floor to come an spend their well earned cash on our handmade treasures. I was glad to be participating as always, and had a fantastic day set to a swinging soundtrack which included the best of Dirty Dancing in memory of Patrick Swayze!!

Moving House

Following the rather depressing news that this year's X factor finalist will be covering Leonard Cohen's beautiful 'Hallelujah,' I think everyone should download the Jeff Buckley version, instead of buying the inevitably soulless version churned out by Simon Cowell's Crimbo flash in the pan.

This is not a group intended to make cruel or derogatory remarks about any participants in this years X factor, but if you love Buckley's version, let's make sure everyone forgets the pale imitation as quickly as possible.

Miss September - 'Pirateclart'

Pirateclart, a tattooed lovely hailing from the west coast of Scotland, with a passion for modelling, hats and books. You've gotta love a girl who can lose herself in a good book!

Queeny: Congratulations on Becoming Miss September! How does it feel?
Pirate C: I am thrilled to be Miss September!

Queeny: Tell us a bit more about yourself...
Pirate C: I am Pirateclart. I'm 26 and I live in Irvine. I drive a go-kart known as a Ford Ka. Its a really lame car but it goes. I am doing a Masters Degree in cancer research. I'm gonna work damn hard this year! I like music, gigs, film, cinema and art. I like modelling. Sailor Jerry's is the best damn drink on the planet. Jack Daniels is an acceptable substitute. I love meeting new people.

Queeny: How did you get into Modelling/Burlesque?
Pirate C: I got into modelling through a friend who was doing photography at the time. I enjoyed the shoot so much I haven't stopped since!

Queeny: Loving your ink... how many tattoos do you have, which is your favourite and do any of them have special significance to you?
Pirate C: I have three tattoos. They are all Japanese style large pieces. I have two koi carp one on each arm and a japanese goddess on my back. I got a fish on each arm because I am a pisces, one arm is summer, the other is autumn because I like the balance/harmony/opposites thing! I don't really have a favourite, I love my right arm because it was my first one, I like the second one because it completes the first one and I adore my back tattoo because she is absolutely stunning! They were all done by Steve Wrigley at Irezumi in Glasgow.

Queeny: How many hats do you own and which is your favourite?
Pirate C: I own many hats! I have two trilbys, a few beanies/woolie hats, a gorgeous little top hat with ostrich feathers that matches my custom made corset and many more. I think the custom made one is my favourite...so far. My hat addiction is a bit like my shoe addiction...

Queeny: Finally, tell us one unusual or interesting fact about yourself.
Pirate C: An interesting fact about me....hmmm... I don't really know what qualifies as interesting... I am a research scientist, I have 14 piercings, I love books!

Miss August - 'Miss Zara Ann'

Miss Zara Ann, a cutie doll with a seductive strut, a burlesquer who is sure to turn any man in to a wolf and any doll to the stage! Pin Up, Hair and Makeup Artist and Owner of Good Golly Miss Molly Designs. Loves music, modelling, makeup, cheesy horror flicks and fishnet stockings and anything from the 20's - 50's .

QOH: Congratulations on Becoming Miss August! How does it feel?
Miss Zara Ann: It feels great!!! I was up against some stiff competition. Some of the girls I knew quite well! So I felt bad winning, hahahaha, but someone had to!

QOH: Tell us a bit more about yourself...
Miss Zara Ann: errrmm... I’m a happy and loveable character with big dreams I guess, hehehe. Sometimes I wear myself out with everything I do but I couldn’t imagine doing things any other way!

QOH: How did you get into Modelling/Burlesque?
Miss Zara Ann: It started really when I was in collage when I was around 17. My good friend Frankii Wilde was doing a photography course and would always use me as a model for her projects. It just felt natural to become a performer from modelling because me and Frankii used to perform in bands when we were younger also so we had no stage fright, hehee!

QOH: You have a stunning vintage look... What era of fashion history is your favourite and why?
Miss Zara Ann: I would have to say the period of World War 2 in England and the classic look of 50's America. I did a lot of research in to these eras when I was doing my fashion production course and discovered a lot of the meanings and reasons behind the styling, for example how the pin up hair styles evolved because the women in the 2nd World War didn’t have much money for clothes as every one was on rations, so to make themselves fashionable their hair became the main aspect of their outfit, and how in the 50's in America they had just come out of the depression this liberated everyone and teenage culture was born.

QOH: How many hats do you own and which is your favourite?
Miss Zara Ann: I own at least 10 hats, hehehee! One of my absolute faves is an s-shaped sequined hat I got it in a charity shop local to me, its so pretty! And of course, I can’t wait for my new Queen of Hearts hat which is sure to become my new favourite!!

QOH: Do you have any upcoming events that you'd like to promote?

Miss Zara Ann: Hehehe, yes I do!!! Recently myself, Frankii and one of our close friends Gemma have been arranging to do a Christmas themed burlesque tea party in our home town of Middlesboro. Its gonna be called Tease and Cake and will be held on the 7th of December on a Sunday afternoon!!! QOH: Tell us a bit about yourself...
Miss Dolly: I'm a pint sized pin up princess from Glasgow, with a passion for corsets, hats and make up! I love teetering around in heels that are too big for me, putting on my eyeliner in the mornings, and relaxing with a glass of wine in the evenings. I collect any Victoriana, especially fans and jewellery, and I recently made my first set of nipple tassles!

QOH: How did you get started in the burlesque scene?
Miss Dolly: I'd been fascinated by the scene for several years, and loved watching performers but never thought I'd have the guts to do it myself. Several of my friends were involved in Burlesque, and seemed to be having so much fun actually performing instead of just watching. So, I plucked up my courage, pulled on my stockings, stuck on my pasties and got twirling! My first show was modelling at Dr Sketchy's Anti-Art Class in Glasgow at the end of last year, and it was a great place to start. There was a brilliant atmosphere, lots of encouragement, and an appreciative audience. Since then I've not looked back...

QOH: What has been you favourite burlesque performance to date?
Miss Dolly: Tease and Cakes, which is a cabaret production by Rhymes with Purple (www. rhymeswithpurple. net). It's a really fun afternoon show, where the audience get fed tea and cake while watching a host of lovely girls (and boys) perform for them. It features singing, dancing, and comedy as well as burlesque performances, so it was great fun to be involved with. I performed my classic Black Feather Fan Dance, and also danced on my pointe shoes to 'Sugar Sugar' while going through the audience distributing sweets and treats! My favourite part was the finale, featuring the whole troupe in a frantic balloon pop act!

QOH: How many hats do you own and which is you favourite?
Miss Dolly: 8 at the last count. My favourites are my genuine Victorian Top Hat which also belonged to Donald Dewar when he was a boy, and my mini top hat which my boyfriend bought me for Valentine's Day (that's the one in my photo).

QOH: How did it feel to become Miss July?
Miss Dolly: I was so thrilled. I didn't expect to win, but I really hoped to at least get placed. I'm looking forward to wearing my new hat and telling everyone about the treasures to be found at Madame Queeny's Millinery Emporium!

QOH: Where can people come and see you perform?

This is on August 10th and is officially the biggest burlesque bash this year, featuring performances from every model that has appeared for the past year!
